Ashghal begins the development of the C Ring Road

The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has announced the launch of its development work on the B Ring road in Doha, where work is currently underway to implement parts of the first four phases of the project at an estimated cost of QR 472 million.

 

Ashghal said in a statement that the project aims to develop both the C Ring Road and Gulf Street, with a total length of about 10 kilometers, and enhance their capacity by increasing the number of lanes from two to three lanes in each direction, in addition to the development of Onaiza Street, and parts of The perpendicular streets on the C Ring Road such as the old airport road, Wadi Musheireb, Rawdat Al Khail and Al Rayyan, besides developing the entrance of Rumaila Hospital.

 

Ashghal explained that the project also aims to enhance the flow of traffic and improve mobility in the area. Ashghal will develop six traffic intersections, including Fereej Abdul Aziz intersection, and the intersection of Doha, the new intersections Asiad, Wadi Rashida, Al-Orouba and Bin Dirham, in addition to the establishment of a new intersection at the confluence of Gulf Street with Al Jazeera Street.

Al Marmar Palace Roundabout, Al Mannai Roundabout (Al Khaleej) and Wadi Musheireb Roundabout (also known as Al Jaidah Bridge Roundabout) will be converted into traffic light intersections.

 

The project also aims to provide elements that will increase traffic safety in the area, including the provision of two pedestrian bridges with electric lifts on the Gulf Street, pedestrian and bicycle lanes, new lighting systems, in addition to improving road signs, in addition to increasing the number of parking lots.

 

The development of the C Ring Road also includes the development of infrastructure services in the region, such as the modernization of the rainwater drainage network to avoid water pools during the winter season, irrigation network and sewage network.

Ashghal has divided the project into five phases in order to facilitate the implementation of construction works and mitigate their impact on residential and commercial areas within the scope of the project, to be completed in all stages of the project in the second quarter of 2021.

 

The traffic closures included in the project so that all entrances to residential areas and commercial establishments will remain open for the duration of the works, in addition to keeping two open lanes on the second ring road in both directions when carrying out any traffic diversions.
